Summary of Club Updates

Over the past more than 2 months Valley Golf Board and Management have been actively trying to maintain facilities, protect livelihoods, and be prepared to reopen, in the safest manner possible, once we can do so in compliance with IATF guidelines and restrictions. Below is a very brief summary:

  • Clubhouse Maintenance
Valley Golf, even during ECQ maintained a skeletal work force that lived on site due to travel restrictions. For more information please click on the link below: (then put all the additional information ie…what is underlined in a link) This team has continually maintained the clubhouses and implemented much needed repairs including but not limited to: re-varnishing woodwork, repairing loose tiles, cleaning light fixtures, paint touch up. In addition, teams have continually worked on improving the sanitizing protocols for your health and safety. Finally, we have reorganized clubhouse set up to ensure compliance with DOH and IATF health and safety guidelines.
  • Golf Course Maintenance
Valley Golf during the lockdown has tried to maintain both golf courses with skeletal work force and limited resources. In addition, deliveries of fertilizers and chemicals was not possible during ECQ and MECQ. . For more information please click on the link below: (then put all the additional information ie…what is underlined in a link) As noted in a previous memo “We have experienced an unexpected breakdown in our South Course pumps.”… “causing us to operate for much of the time on very limited water pumping capacity”. In addition, we aggressively applied herbicides to control carabao grass; the combined effect has been some brown and bare spots in South Course fairways.

Other maintenance activities have included verticutting and top-dressing greens, coring aeration of South greens, solid tine aeration of all greens, partial re-grassing #4 and #5 tee boxes, all regular maintenance work. In addition we dredged the waterway at #9 North, and are working on dredging and enlarging the pond at #5 South. As soon as the regular rains start, we will begin to install the gabion filter and #17 south pump house.
  • Monthly Dues
As noted above the maintenance of the Club House and Golf Course facilities, as one of our noted priorities, has been continuous. For more information regarding Monthly Dues please click on the link below: (then put all the additional information ie…what is underlined in a link) Because of the ongoing costs of maintenance as well as other overhead costs that must be continued, and with no ability to generate revenues at this time (which would be used to defray maintenance costs), the Board was constrained to take up the matter and resolved as follows: “that the Corporation shall not waive the payment of stipulated regular monthly dues of stockholders/members as provided for under the By-Laws which cannot be countermanded by a mere resolution for those who are or may not be allowed to play during ECQ and GCQ under the IATF ECQ and GCQ Guidelines until the restrictions are finally lifted;”

It should be noted that the Board is still reviewing the matter of monthly dues and how to alleviate some of the difficulty; “we sympathize with the plight of our members, whose lives and businesses have been greatly affected by this pandemic. As an early mitigation effort, on March 24, 2020 one of the first communications to our members noted that no accounts would be considered delinquent and no new penalties would begin to accrue until at least 30 days after the end of the lockdown. The Board will meet to discuss all your concerns especially with respect to the monthly dues.”
  • Employee Livelihood
Management has implemented as much as possible work from home schemes, skeleton crews to ensure social distancing, and implemented DOLE guidelines. All Valley Golf employees have continued to receive salaries.

  • Efforts to get Valley Reopened

In addition to continuous communication with other Clubs in the region, Valley Golf has been part of the NGAP lobbying efforts to the IATF. It was understood and agreed from the beginning that the most effective way to get golf open would be through collaborative efforts under one lobby banner. Valley Golf was one of the first clubs to complete and approve a set of operating guidelines that NGAP was able to use to show IATF that NGAP represented Clubs are serious about implementing best practice protocols. Up to now, NGAP and the Clubs await the IATF revised guidelines.

In addition, Valley Golf is working with Rizal Clubs to try to meet with the Provincial Governor in this regard.
  • Plans for Reopening
Valley Golf has released detailed Reopening Guidelines, Tee off time Guidelines, and Guidelines for making tee off times. The Club is prepared to open under written and approved IATF guidelines and restrictions.
